My 17 month old daughter is finally starting to walk! I know kids develop at different rates and all, but I really thought she would have been walking sooner. It's tough too, especially when all the other neighborhood kids have been walking since they were like 12 months old.
She's walking more and more everyday, which is great. People are always telling me "you'll regret it when she starts!". But, I like it. I'm glad I can play outside with her and will soon be able to run around with her.
So, if you're stressing over milestones...don't. They will eventually do what they need to do. They just do it in their own time.

The Sequel
So, here I am, prego again with #2. My first was born on Dec. 9th, and this one is due on Dec. 3rd.
I had to have a c-section with my first one...that's a horror story in itself. Being induced, going all the way through labor, pushing for 2 hours, then ending up having to have a c-section really sucked. So, turns out that this time I don't have much of a choice and I have to have another c-section. I'm ok with it now...I don't have to worry about going through what I did last time. It probably won't hurt nearly as much either, so that should be good. The main reason I'm not happy about it is that after they get the baby out and sew you up, you have to go to recovery for an hour before they bring you back to your room to actually see your baby. It kinda sucks that I won't get the chance to hold him/her right after.
Another good thing is that they schedule them a week before the due date. So, that'll make my kids birthdays about 2 weeks apart, which will be nice.
The first trimester has been going the same as it did with my first. I felt sick for a little, but turns out it was just my prenatal vitamin. So, I started taking that right before bed and I've felt fine since. The only thing that's really hard to deal with is being so tired. It's even more difficult because I have a 17 month old to take care of and I have zero energy. I'll be in my second trimester in a couple weeks, so I'm hoping that will help. I guess I'll just have to wait and see!
Basically my whole family thinks it's going to be a boy. Either way, I don't really care. I have my girl...so I don't really have a preference this time. Although, I do have a little feeling it might be another girl. When I was sick, I was thinking boy. But since I took care of that, I'm thinking it's a girl. I could be wrong...we'll find out at some point in July!

Tummy Time
Lilith HATES being on her tummy....I mean, seriously hates it. How is she going to crawl, if she refuses to be on her tummy?
I've been putting her in her Bumbo a lot, to try to get her muscles working so she will be able to learn to sit. The problem is, when I'm sitting her on my lap to help her practice and to play with her, she always straightens her legs so she's standing. It's almost impossible to keep her sitting for longer than a minute. So, I'm really glad I got the Bumbo for her...at least she doesn't really have an option when she's in that!
She's going to be 6 months old next week, so I bought her a few new toys. I got her this ball that makes music and has flashing lights which are set off by motion, and I got her a baby laptop. She's LOVES them both! I think it's all of the different lights and sounds they make, but they keep her busy for a while.
I think she's finally learning how to nap. She's been taking 1-2 naps a day, which I'm very happy about. Not just so I get a break, but because I know she needs them. So, it's all working out.
Kymm, Lilith's godmother, came over on Sunday and we had a photoshoot. I have all of the pictures on my other computer, but I haven't had a chance to really sit down and go through them all. I plan on doing that in the next couple days, and I'll try to post some pictures asap. She's just so damn cute!

Baby Naps?!
Lilith is the worst at taking naps!!!!!!!!
Now, don't get me wrong, she is such a good baby. She eats her food, she plays with her toys, and is for the most part content all the time. She also is a good night sleeper (she's always been pretty good at that), which is awesome. But, it's so hard to get her to take a nap!!!!!
Up until 2 weeks ago, she would not nap during the day. She would get up at 7 am, and she'd be up and alert until 9:30 at night. It was pretty rough....
I've recently been feeding her right when she wakes up in the morning, usually around 7 or 8. Then, I put her back to bed. She lays there for a bit, and then drifts back off to sleep. Then, she'll get up around 10 or 10:30. This works out great because I can either go back to sleep (which is the route I often take) or I can get up and get some work done (I work from home, very convenient). Then when she gets up, she'll sit in her high chair and we'll have some breakfast.
After that though, it's very difficult to get her to chill out and take a little nap in the afternoon. I know all babies are different...yada yada yada...but I feel like she should at least take an hour nap around 2ish. There have been a few times where I've laid her down and she'll take a nice 2 hour nap, but most of the time, she freaks out. I let her try to calm down herself which works sometimes, but other times I have to keep going up and calming her down, only to end up getting her back up. With the rate that babies grow and develop, it just seems like they need to take that little extra nap time so that they can catch up with themselves. Maybe that's dumb logic, but that's what I think. And the fact that she is so much more pleasant after the nap speaks volumes to me.
So, my question is, does anyone else have an issues putting their baby down for a nap? Or possibly any suggestions? I've tried the whole routine thing, and I don't know that it's really doing a whole lot. Any comments would be greatly appreciated! :)

Hiatus
So, during my pregnancy, I was just so tired and forgetful, and my blog suffered. So, I'm no longer Prego Mego, I'm Mego with a child :)
Lilith was born on December 9, 2009. I had to be induced on the 8th (which coincidentally is my birthday). I was put on pitocin, which wasn't fun at all. I was fully dilated by the end of the day, started pushing, and she just wouldn't move down. So, I was prepped for a c-section. It was a very long and tiring day...and also very painful, but it was worth it. :)
So, Lilith is going to be 5 months old on Saturday. It's amazing how much they can change in only 5 months! She's already started solids, her favorites are apples and pears, and she's so strong. I've been breastfeeding, which has also been great. It's nice to know that you are supplying your child with good food. If anyone is thinking about breastfeeding, I say give it a shot. It was really difficult for me in the beginning, just with pain and soreness, but I'm glad I stuck with it. I have lots of suggestions if you need them as well.
So, this blog is going to be about Lilith, and being a mom now. I'll definitely keep it up this time...

Sluggish Much?
Everyone has told me that in the second trimester, you are supposed to be full of energy. Well, then I must be a serious exception to that rule. I'm still tired, and I'm about to be 18 weeks along! I mean, I'm not nearly as tired as I was before, but still, I feel as though I need a nap during the day. I've started to sleep better during the night this week, but still have a very difficult time getting out of bed in the morning. What's up with that?
I know everyone is different and all, but why does it have to be me? I was looking forward to getting some energy back, but I guess I'll just have to deal. I haven't gotten super hungry yet, so I'm not sure when that's supposed to kick in either. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to figure myself out, day by day.

Almost Half Way!
I'm a little over 17 weeks, and I'm super excited! In just a couple short weeks (July 11th), I will be finding out the gender of my baby!
I had my monthly appointment yesterday, and it went really well. The doctor scared the crap out of me though. She asked me if I had been feeling the baby move at all. I told her, that I haven't felt anything at all, which made me a little nervous. She said that sometimes for first time pregnancies, you don't start to feel the baby move until around 20 weeks, so I shouldn't worry. Then, when she went to find the heartbeat, she couldn't find it right away. I can't even begin to tell you how scared I was....but she finally found it. It was all the way over on the right, as opposed to the middle where it has always been before. I have never been more relieved in my life!
I've gained a total of 4 lbs, which she said was good, and I'm only just starting to show a little. Not much, I only have a very small bump, but I'm actually excited for it to get bigger!

I'm Not The Only Crazy One
I was searching around the web for pregnancy info. It's much easier to read it on the web for free, than to buy a book with the same information. Anyway, I came across a website that said you should expect weird dreams throughout pregnancy. One of the common dreams is dreaming you're giving birth to an animal. It is so reassuring to know that I'm not the only one dreaming that I'm giving birth to a cat!
So, I'm around 14 weeks now, and even though I still don't weigh anymore than I did at the beginning of my pregnancy, NOTHING FITS! I look absolutely ridiculous in my tank tops, because I'm so puffy, and none of my pants, capris, or shorts fit. They're all too snug. It would be different if I had gained weight and my stomach actually looked like a little pregnant belly, but instead I'm just completely puffed and I just look chubby. If you saw me walking down the street, you'd just think I would need to lose 10 pounds.....you definitely wouldn't think I'm pregnant.
While I don't really feel sick anymore, I still get tired midday. I told the doctor and he said it would go away within 1-2 weeks. I tell ya, I can't wait until it does. I'm so sick of getting tired and just lazing around the house. It gets boring and VERY monotonous.
In about 4-5 weeks I will know the sex of my baby. The first week of July I'm allowed to schedule my ultrasound. I'm pretty excited. Everyone in our families thinks it is a boy. I personally feel it might be a girl. I guess we'll see. It's basically a 50/50 chance. I'm pretty excited though!

Gag Me With A Toothbrush
Have you ever been brushing your teeth, and go to brush your tongue, and gag a little? It used to happen to me occasionally. But now, it happens everytime I go to brush my tongue! It's not like I stick the toothbrush down my throat either. But, as soon as I touch the tip of my tongue with that damn toothbrush, I'm gagging. It's awful! I feel like my breath is going to stink because I can't get a good tongue brushing/scraping. GR!
On another note, my family and I went to see Narnia last night...the midnight showing. I love going to midnight shows. :) Beforehand, we went to a restaurant and had some food. I just had some appetizers, which were absolutely delicious, but quite filling. We had some cookies for dessert, and I treated myself. I had half a cup of coffee! Mmmmm, it was absolutely delicious. I miss having my coffee every morning so much. The doctor said that you're typically allowed to have a cup of coffee everyday, because it's not enough caffeine to really do any harm. But, the way i figure, is that if I can deal without the coffee, there's no reason to do something that could potentially cause harm, even if I stay within the safe amount. I say, it's better safe than sorry. Plus, it's a nice treat and something to look forward to, when I only have it on occasion. Know what I mean?
So, we didn't get home until about 3:30 this morning, and I was pretty tired. I had such a good nights sleep...I haven't slept that well in a while. I barely woke up through the night, which is very unusual for me since I got pregnant. Even though I get so tired throughout the day, I wake up so much throughout the night and have some trouble getting back to sleep. It kind of sucks. And I can't take any sleep medicine, which sucks even more, because I love Tylenol PM when I have issues sleeping. I guess that'll just have to be something else I look forward to once this is over.

Recap!
It's been a little over a week since I've updated. I've been busy......and tired!
It was really cute, because on Mother's Day, my husband, my sister, and my best friend each gave me a card. I didn't expect that, but it was nice. :)
We've been doing home projects lately. Trying to get as much stuff done before the baby comes in November. I'm hoping we can get the things we want done, so we won't have to worry about anything else.
Mostly all of my nausea has gone away. I've just been getting VERY tired in the early evenings. It stinks, because as soon as my husband gets home, and I want to tackle the home projects, I'm so tired that I don't want to do anything. So, he's stuck doing practically everything. I know he doesn't mind, but I wish I could contribute more.
We've been eating at home a lot more too. There was about 3-4 weeks where we were eating out every night. It just wasn't very healthy, and it definitely wasn't a good idea for our budget. I'm glad we got over that. I've been trying to eat a lot better, and I think I'm doing better.
So, officially, in about 1 1/2 weeks, I will be into my second trimester. I'm pretty excited. So far, I've only gained about 1 lb., but I know it'll all start coming within the next month or so. But, hopefully my better eating habits will help me only gain the weight I'm supposed to, and not a whole bunch extra.......assuming I'm still nausea free! So, I guess we'll see how it all goes.

Good Times
Yesterday my husband and I celebrated out 1 year anniversary. It was awesome! We had a wonderful day, and it was extra nice for me. It was the first day in about 3 weeks that I haven't taken a nap in the afternoon. Granted, during our activities, I got really tired, but I powered through. And I'll tell ya, I slept so well last night! It was nice being up for the whole day and actually enjoying the nice weather. :)
I've been feeling better, but being tired all the time is starting to wear me down. I'd take that over being sick though, so I shouldnt' complain. It's just amazing how tired pregnancy makes you...especially so early on.
I've been eating out a lot. I haven't been eating that great. I'm going to start eating a little better. Guess I should go to the store and stock up on some good food.

Feelin Good!
Suddenly, I'm feeling like my normal self. I don't feel sick, I'm not tired, and I'm actually getting things done. It's so weird how things can flip so quickly. I guess I shouldn't be talking about how great I feel. Everyone knows that once you do that, it's all downhill.
For your entertainment, I'll tell you about a dream I had. I was pregnant, and I was at the doctors office for an appointment. I was given the option of having a normal baby or a cat baby. Somewhere in my mind, I thought a cat baby would be awesome, so I opted for that. I was suddenly giving birth, and there it was...a black cat. It looked just like my cat, Josephine.
Time elapsed, and my cat baby was going to school, walking upright, and talking. The classroom was full of normal kids, plus my cat baby. It was the strangest thing.
I guess all throughout pregnancy you have strange dreams. I'd like someone to interpret that one!

Bloatation Device
Yes, I said bloat instead of float. I feel like a big old pile of bloatation.
I thought bloating was bad during my period. That was nothing compared to the amount I have now. Seriously, I look like I gained at least 5 lbs since the beginning of the month...but, I've only gained .4 lbs......because it's all bloat!
The other thing that stinks is that none of my pants fit anymore. I've gained barely any weight, but everything is so tight. That includes my shirts too! I can't imagine how I'm going to feel once I start actually getting a baby belly. I guess by that time I'll be out of the "I feel so gross" stage, and into the "glowing" stage. At least, that what I'm hoping for! :)

Mind Over Matter
So, I had my second visit with the dr. today. It went really well! He used the little doppler thing so that I could hear the heartbeat, which was really neat. The more I talk about it and the further along I am, the more excited I get. It's just so cool. The office I go to rotates you around with all 4 of the doctors, so that you're familiar with all of them since you don't know who will be on call when you're in labor. I think it's pretty cool that they do that. So far, I've seen only one doctor and he's great. I'm looking forward to my next visit in 4 weeks to see how the next doctor is.
On another note, I know it's still far away, but I keep thinking about the whole natural birth thing. To be honest, I am more terrified of having an epidural than the actual act of childbirth. I mean, would I really want a big needle stuck directly into my spine? The more I think about it and the more I read about the pros and cons, I am coming to the conclusion of "thanks, but no thanks!". Seriously, they could stick the needle in too far, you're all groggy afterwards so you can't enjoy the fact that you just gave birth, and in some cases, the medicine doesn't even work! Why go through the anxiety of having a needle in your spine if it isn't even going to do anything?! The way I figure, is that the pain is definitely going to end, so just deal with it. I'm not downplaying it and saying it isn't going to hurt. I'm sure it'll hurt like hell, but I would much rather go through it and feel great afterwards, then deal with a needle and grogginess. I mean, some people got sick from the anesthetic. No thanks!
So, I'm going to be looking into natural childbirth classes. Finding out different strategies to deal with the pain. I think I might consider finding a doula as well. I think it would help to have someone there relaxing me and reminding me to calm down. Mind over matter, right?
On another note, I know it's still far away, but I keep thinking about the whole natural birth thing. To be honest, I am more terrified of having an epidural than the actual act of childbirth. Pregnancy Is Tough
If you've ever heard anyone say that pregnancy is easy, they were either lying, or they were extremely lucky. I find myself somewhere in the middle.
Let me introduce myself. I'm 25, am almost 9 weeks pregnant, and am already experiencing the difficulties of being pregnant.
Don't get me wrong, being pregnant is great. The first trimester is just difficult to get through...and I don't even have it as bad as some other people I know. I've been getting headaches, I've been so tired, and I've felt so nauseaus, that I don't even know what to do with myself. The only thing I keep thinking is, thank goodness I haven't actually gotten sick. It's a rough time, but I guess you gotta go through the bad to get to the good.
